Lorain County Sheriff Opening Up Store To Benefit School Kids

Lorain County Sheriff’s Office “Cram the Cruiser” is set to expand with the Grand Opening of the “Cram the Cruiser Store” on Saturday, October 10th, 2020 from 9:00am – 1:00pm.

In 2014 at the direction of Sheriff Phil R. Stammitti, the Lorain County Sheriff’s Office initiated the first annual “Cram the Cruiser” event. During the week of the Lorain County Fair visitors were encouraged to bring school supplies for donating and “Cram the Cruiser” parked inside the main entrance.

Each year school districts were selected and the items collected were given to those districts. This process has continued since 2014 and we will continue this mission by expanding our efforts to reach more kids, not just at the start of the new school year, but ALL Year Long.

The “Cram the Cruiser Store” will open on Saturday, October 10th, 2020 from 9:00am to 1:00pm.The store will be open the second (2nd) Saturday of each month in October, November, January, February, March and April. The location will be the Lorain County Sheriff’s Office, located at 9896 Murray Ridge Rd., Elyria, Ohio 44035. (Signs will direct teachers to the correct location).

Any educator employed by a school district in Lorain County simply needs to show up during Open Store Hours, produce their employee I.D. and a form of personal (driver license) identification and shop for supplies needed for their classroom. THERE IS NO COST TO SHOP and you will not be limited to how many times you may visit the “Cram the Cruiser Store” during the months that it’s open.

The Cram the Cruiser Store will be operated by volunteers from the Lorain County Sheriff’s Office Citizens Academy Alumni and would not be possible without their hard work and dedication to this project. Additionally and as equally important, two employee fund raising events, Dress Down Day and

No Shave November/December raised funds to help purchase supplies and Lorain County Prosecutor Dennis P. Will’s Outreach Program partnered with this project to assist with the donation of supplies.

We encourage the public and private sector to make donations of school supplies any time during the year, to do so or obtain more information about the Cram the Cruiser Store or if you’re interested in becoming a sponsor or partner, call Captain Jack G. Hammond at 440-329-3844.
