Cleveland Indians righty Mike Clevinger will miss his Tuesday start against the Chicago Cubs at Progressive Field after it was learned Clevinger violated COVID-19 protocols while the team was in Chicago for a weekend series with the White Sox.
Turns out, Clevinger was with fellow starter Zach Plesac who met up with some friends Saturday night hours after Plesac powered the Tribe to a 7-1 win over the White Sox.
Plesac was sent home Sunday by the club after he returned to the team hotel early that morning.
Clevinger failed to self-report to the team and traveled back to Cleveland on the team flight following Sunday night's win on Chicago's South Side.
Clevinger has been instructed to quarantine and undergo subsequent testing while away from the team. Adam Plutko will get Clevinger's start Tuesday night against the Cubs.
