One of the biggest names in Rock and Roll music is dead. Little Richard, Richard Penniman, passed away today at the age of 87. The cause of his death is unknown.
Little Richard hit the charts with such songs as Tutti Frutti and Long Tall Sally in 1956 and he had a series of hits afterward thanks to a pumping piano and Gospel influenced vocals.
Little Richard influenced many other acts and his hits were covered by artists like the Beatles, The Kinks, C-C-R and Elvis Costello. Little Richard was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1986.
