President Donald Trump has granted clemency to Youngstown native and former San Francisco Forty-Niners owner Eddie DeBartolo Jr.
DeBartolo ceded control of the team in the late 1990's after pleading guilty to a felony charge in a corruption case involving former Louisiana Governor Edwin Edwards.
He pleaded guilty to paying Edwards $400,000 in exchange for a riverboat gambling license. DeBartolo never served prison time but paid a hefty fine.
Cleveland Pastor Darrell Scott advocated for DeBartolo's pardon for the past year or so. Pastor Scott is an informal adviser to President Trump.
