Hiring was ramped up further in January according to the latest numbers from the Labor Department.
Payrolls increased by 225,000 last month compared to a 147,000 gain nationwide in December.
The jobless rate stands at 3.6%, which is still near a half century low.
The latest numbers hand President Trump an election boost early in the campaign year.
The Labor Department also said Friday that hourly earnings are up 3.1% from a year earlier.
