One of the best linebackers in the National Football League is calling it quits at the tender age of 28. Carolina Panthers Linebacker Luke Kuechly abruptly announced his retirement from the game Tuesday night after 8 seasons in the game.
Kuechly is a seven-time Pro Bowler and was named First Team All-Pro five times. He did not give a specific reason for his retirement but he has a history of concussion, suffering at least three reported incidents between 2015 and 2017. Despite that, Kuechly missed just ten games throughout his career.
Players retiring in their prime are becoming more common with former Indy QB Andrew Luck stepping away at 29 and 49'ers Linebacker Chris Borland retiring at 24.
