It is now legal to pull over and scoop-up roadkill and take it home in the state of California.
A new law, which went into effect today, allows people to bag roadkill they may come across on California roadways or take home wildlife they may fatally strike when behind the wheel of their own vehicles.
Data in the state shows that more than 56,000 animal carcasses were found on local roads and highways throughout the state between 2009 and 2017.
The new law will allow authorities to establish a pilot program where people would be mandated to report info to help track wildlife-vehicle collisions in the state of California.
