National Organization Has New Spin On Dangers Of Youth Tackle Football

A new public service announcement is out outlining the dangers of tackle football at a young age.

The Concussion Legacy Foundation is urging parents to keep their kids from playing tackle football until they are in high school.

In the newly released PSA, the organization compares youth football to children smoking cigarettes.

The PSA claims kids who play tackle football at age 5 versus 14 years of age are ten times more likely to get the brain disease C-T-E or Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy, a neuro-degenerative disease caused by repeated head injuries.

Symptoms typically do not appear until years after the injuries. C-T-E can lead to dementia.
