We recently celebrated Mother's Day which is a big day on our respective calendars. But there is now a school in Melbourne, Australia that will no longer celebrate Mother's Day or Father's Day as we know them.
The Brunswick East Primary School is re-branding each as 'Acknowledgement Day' in an effort to be 'as inclusive as possible.'
The school says they are calling it 'Acknowledgement Day' so as to not offend non-binary parents.
A non-binary person is someone who identifies as having no gender or being without a gender identity.
Many parents seem to support the change but not everyone is pleased. The Australian Liberty Alliance says the change undermines the idea of a traditional family.
