Boston Skipper Skipping White House Celebration Thursday

The 2018 World Champion Boston Red Sox will be honored Thursday by President Trump at the White House. You can count Boston manager Alex Cora among those choosing not to attend the event.

Cora is skipping the event because he would not feel comfortable celebrating in the White House while he says his native Puerto Rico continues to struggle in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria in September, 2017.

President Trump says Puerto Rico has received 91 billion dollars in federal assistance to help recover from the storm.

Cora is the not the only one skipping the event. Others staying home include players David Price, Mookie Bets, Xander Bogaerts. Jackie Brady Jr, Hector Velazquez and Rafael Devers.
