Prosecutors in Chicago have dropped all 16 charges against 'Empire' actor Jussie Smollett.
Smollett was charged after allegedly lying to police about a racial attack against him January 29.
The dismissal of the charges means the records in the case will be sealed from public view.
Smollett told police he was attacked by two masked men in Chicago that January day around 2am.
Smollett, who is gay and African-American, says he was beaten and had homophobic and racial remarks tossed his way.
He also said he had a chemical, of some sort, poured on him before a rope was looped around his neck before his attackers bolted the scene.
Two brothers, Abel and Ola Osundairo were taken into custody in February for their alleged roles in the attack.
Turns out, Smollett wrote the brothers a check for $3,500 to stage the attack. They were later released without being charged.
