Maryland football coach D.J. Durkin could return to the team this week following his reinstatement by the university.
Durkin has been on paid administrative leave since Aug. 11 following the June death of 19-year old offensive lineman Jordan McNair.
McNair collapsed during a May 29 workout from apparent heat stroke and died weeks later. McNair's death led to an investigation into reports of bullying of players by the Maryland coaching staff.
Durkin's reinstatement has been met with outrage by McNair's parents. His father, Marty McNair says he feels like he has been "punched in the stomach" by the university's decision and some Maryland football players reportedly walked out of a meeting with Durkin who gathered them to detail the decision to reinstate him.
