A Utah couple could be out a cool grand. Ben and Jackee Belnap recently lost track of more than $1,000 cash but ultimately discovered it in pieces inside the shredder at the family's home.
The Belnap's had been saving the money to re-pay Ben parents for season tickets to the University of Utah football games.
Turns out, the couple's toddler, 2-year old Leo, got a hold of an envelope containing $1,060 before putting the money into the shredder.
The little boy often helps mommy shred junk mail and other papers inside the house. There is some good news, however.
The Belnap's can submit the shredded cash to the U.S. Department of Treasury Mutilated Currency Division for exchange.
It will, however, take a little while before the money is pieced together and the exact amount is verified.
