Cyber-Bullying Becoming More Prevalent

Online harassment seems to becoming more of a problem across the country.  A new study, from Pew Research, indicates 59-percent of teens say they've encountered at least one of six types of abusive behaviors online.

Offensive name calling seems to be the most prevalent form of harassment.  Forty-two percent of teens say they have been called names either online or on their cell phones.  Other types of cyber-bullying include the spreading of false rumors.

Thirty-two percent of teens surveyed indicate they have been victimized by that form of harassment. Twenty-five percent of teens say they have received explicit images they did not seek while 16-percent say they have been targets of physical threats.  Teen aged boys and girls say they are equally likely to be victims of online harassment.
