(Chicago) - Some Chicago families could soon receive an economic shot in the arm. Chicago Alderman Ameya Pawar has introduced a measure which would provide 1,000 families with a $500 dollar a month stipend, no questions asked.
Several city lawmakers have already thrown their support behind the legislation. Pawar says it's a good idea since 70-percent of Americans do not have a thousand bucks in the bank for an emergency.
Pawar hopes to soon start working with Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel to implement the program.
