An Academic Honor Misunderstood On Grad Cake

(South Carolina) - A mom in South Carolina is none to pleased with the Publix Super Market chain.  Cara Koscinski recently ordered a $70 cake for her son's graduation and wanted it to read 'Congrats Jacob! Summa Cum Laude.  Class of 2018'.

When she she picked it up, the cake read 'Congrats Jacob!  Summa --- Laude.  Class of 2018'.  The phrase is Latin and means "with the highest distinction'.

Turns out, the online box where Publix customers enter cake inscriptions is extremely temperamental and it filtered the word "Cum" with its' spelling believing it was profane.

Mrs. Koscinski was busy with party preparations and didn't notice the cake's writing until it was time for desert.  She says Publix refunded the $70 for the cake and gave her a store gift card.
