(Washington) - There is hope for those who want legalized sports gambling throughout the country. The U.S. Supreme Court has struck down a law that barred gambling on baseball, basketball, football and other sports in most states.
The move now gives states the ability to legalize such activity. The nation's high court struck down a 1992 law that barred state-authorized sports gambling with the exception being Nevada where people can bet on games.
It has been estimated by one research firm that 32 states would allow sports betting within five years of the law being struck down.
