CLEVELAND, OH--- In front of the 5th sellout crowd of the year, the Guardians opened their weekend series with the White Sox with a 4-2 win. The Guardians were up against former Cleveland starter Mike Clevenger, he would go 5 innings, giving up 8 hits and 4 runs.

A big story of the game was Andres Gimenez, he was on a 1-21 skid coming in tonight, but he would turn it around with 3 extra base hits in Friday's game, the first time in his career he would have 3 extra base hits in a single game in his career. He started off early hitting a double in the first inning, (being brought home to score with a Jose Ramirez single) a 2 run home run in the 5th inning, and another double in the 7th. Another notable event in tonight's game was manager Tito Francona being tossed in the 4th inning. He was tossed arguing an overturned ruling upon review involving Brayan Rocchio getting tagged out at 2nd, the overturn came from New York and would've been Rocchio's first career double. The Guardians also scored a run off a wild pitch from Clevenger in the 2nd inning.

Pitching for the Guardians was Logan T Allen, he had a good start, going 6 innings, giving up 4 hits and 2 runs while striking out 5 Chicago batters. Those runs came in the 3rd inning, where Allen would struggle a bit, walking 3 batters, including Andrew Benintendi with the bases loaded. The 2nd run he gave up would be thanks to an RBI double from Elvis Andrus. The Guardians and White Sox play again Saturday night at 7:10, Noah Syndergaard will make his Progressive Field debut for the Guardians.
