CLEVELAND, OH--- The Guardians couldn't get anything going in a game where they would end up getting smashed by the Atlanta Braves 8-1 Wednesday night. With multiple home runs throughout the game, which was Atlanta's primary source of offense, the Braves have now homered in 23 straight games. Things got out of hand right off the bat with Atlanta rallying for 4 runs in the first inning with RBI singles from Matt Olson and Sean Murphy, along with a 2 run double from Eddie Rosario which brought home both Olson and Murphy. It was a rough start that most likely effected the rest of Cal Quantrill's outing, he would only go a little over 4 innings giving up 11 hits and 5 runs.
Meanwhile for the Guardians offense, they would get close, but simply couldn't execute as in the first 4 innings, they would leave runners stranded in scoring position in 4 consecutive innings, the first 2 of those innings, the Guardians would leave a runner at 3rd with no outs. While the Guardians struggled, Sean Murphy would be responsible for another Atlanta run, smoking a missile of a solo home run to the left field porch in the 3rd inning making the score 5-0. The Braves continued to pile on runs with 2 more solo home runs in both the 7th and 9th innings coming from Austin Riley and Matt Olson in the 9th, also in the 9th we would see Sean Murphy score again after Michael Harris II would ground it a force out with the bases loaded. The lone Guardians run would come in the bottom of the 9th with Amed Rosario grounding out allowing Steven Kwan to score form 3rd, he was on 3rd due to a wild pitch.
The Guardians will welcome division rival Kansas City tomorrow for a series that will last all the way through Sunday, first pitch is set for 7:10.
