CLEVELAND, OH--- Jose Ramirez shined in an offensive explosion for Cleveland where they walloped the Red Sox 10-3 Thursday night at Progressive Field. He would hit 3 home runs in his first 3 at bats, the first coming in the first inning, his 2nd in the 3rd inning which would be a 2 run shot and also his 200th career home run, and his 3rd in the 6th inning. Finishing the game going 3 for 5 with 3 home runs and 5 RBI. Jose's homer in the 6th would only be 1 of 8 hits in a 6th inning explosion from the Guardians.
The 6th inning would not only see Jose's 3rd homer of the game, but it would also see an Andres Gimenez 2 run double, Myles Straw RBI triple, and a Will Brennan RBI single in 8 straight hits off former Cleveland Indian Corey Kluber, who had to eat up innings due to Boston's exhausted bullpen ahead of a 3 games series with the New York Yankees. Kluber's stat line would look like this : 3.1 innings pitched, 10 hits given up, and 6 runs given up. Not to be overshadowed, we would also see a stellar outing from Guardians starter Aaron Civale who would go little over 5 innings, giving up only 4 hits and 2 runs. Some of those hits included a Jarren Duran RBI single in the 5th inning and a Triston Casas solo home run in the 6th. The Guardians would add another home run, coming from the bat of Will Brennan bouncing one off the right field pole in the 8th inning. The 10th run of the game came on an odd play, once again Jose Ramirez was credited with the RBI, this time on a fielder's choice. It would also result in a double play with both Ramirez and Amed Rosario getting caught in run downs.
The Guardians are now a game and a half back from the Minnesota Twins, despite being 4 games under .500, they will continue the chase of the Twins starting a weekend series with the Houston Astros Friday night, first pitch is set for 7:10 pm.
