CLEVELAND, OH--- Arguably 2 of the best baseball players to ever touch the diamond came in town Friday night for a weekend series, Mike Trout , Shohei Ohtani and the LA Angels took game 1 of a 3 game series, defeating the Guardians 5-4. The Guards coming into Friday night's game were 8-9 in runs decided by 1 run. The Guardians also came into Friday night's game with a streak of 10 games where the offense didn't produce more then 4 runs.

The Guardians bullpen up until the 9th inning did an amazing job in relief of starter Logan T Allen who went a little over 4 innings, giving up 8 hits and 3 runs that all came in the 4th inning. Allen would have a great 3rd inning, getting himself out of a potential jam striking out Ohtani and Trout back to back to end the 3rd. Relivers Nick Sandlin, James Karinchak, who in his inning of work would get himself into a jam walking Trout as the lead off hitter then Ohtani, would then recover striking out Hunter Renfroe and Brandon Drury back to back. Trevor Stephan would also go an inning a piece, not giving up a run along with his fellow relivers. The 3 LA runs in the 4th came from a Brandon Drury single, a Gio Urshela double, and Zach Neto single. Brandon Drury was originally called out at home on a head first slide, but the Angles would challenge and win, taking the lead 3-2. The 2 Guardians runs came form a Jose Ramirez SAC fly in the first, bringing home Amed Rosario who tripled, and Myles Straw hitting a SAC fly, in another head first sliding play, Josh Naylor would be safe, but he would look hurt after colliding with Angels catcher Matt Thaiss, but stayed in the game, hitting a no doubt bomb later on in the 8th inning to propel Cleveland to a 4-3 lead. In the top half of that 8th inning, Steven Kwan would make an amazing play off the left field wall, catching it bare handed and hitting Jose Ramirez the cut off man, who nailed Matt Thaiss at home plate.

The 9th inning would see the Guardians give themselves a chance after Emmanuel Clase's blown save in the top half, giving up 2 runs with one coming via a fielder's choice play with Andres Gimenez attempting to throw out Mike Trout at home, he would get a throwing error which allowed Brett Phillips to advance to 3rd base. In the bottom half of the 9th, the Guards offense would mange back to back 2 out singles from Ramirez and Josh bell, bringing up Josh Naylor, who would be intentionally walked bringing up Will Brennan, who struck out ending the game.

The Guardians will continue the weekend series tomorrow afternoon at 6:10 pm, as always you can hear the games on your flagship Newsradio WTAM 1100 AM, 106.9 FM, the free iHeartRadio app, and HERE
