CLEVELAND,OH--- Dominate pitching for the Marlins lead them to a 6-1 win in game 1 of a doubleheader due to Friday's game between these 2 clubs being rained out. The Marlins didn't seem phased by an ab-normal 2 days off this early in a MLB campaign. The last time these 2 teams met was in Miami in 2019.
Only 1 run was given up by Miami pitching Saturday afternoon, that run came from Josh Bell hitting a double that drove in shortstop Amed Rosario. Marlins starter Devin Smeltzer would pitch 4 innings, giving up the lone Cleveland run in the 4th inning while striking out 3 Guardians batters. The Marlins bullpen would pitch shut-out baseball from the 5th inning on. Shane Bieber was on the mound for the Guardians, walking 3 batters through the first 3 innings, he would go a little over 5 innings, giving up 4 hits and 3 runs on 103 pitches. The Marlins were aggressive at the plate all game with runs coming from a Yuli Gurriel single, a Bryan De La Cruz solo home run and 2 more RBI singles from Luis Arraez and Avisail Garcia.
Zach Plesac is on the mound for game 2 for the nightcap, as always you can hear all Guardians games on your flagship, Newsradio WTAM 1100 AM, 106.9 FM, the free iHeartRadio app, and HERE
