OAKLAND,CA--- The Oakland A's set the series even with a 4-3 walk off win against the Guardians Tuesday night. A worn-down Cleveland bullpen did what they could after pitching 14 innings in the last 2 games, but James Karinchak would give up the winning run which came from the bat of Tony Kemp.
The Guardians had a very solid performance on the mound, ace Shane Bieber threw the first 6 innings, giving up only 3 hits and 3 runs while striking out 7 Oakland batters. Trevor Stephan and Enyel De Los Santos would relive Bieber with an inning a piece. Both relivers gave up one hit and struck out 1 batter. The A's would get their first run in the 3rd inning thanks to the bottom of the order. Ryan Noda would lead the inning off drawing a walk, then he was advanced to 2nd thanks to a Carlos Perez grounder that split the infield, Noda was then driven in by an Esteury Ruiz double. Josh Naylor would tie the game after a groundout, allowing Oscar Gonzalez to score after he would hit a triple. Gabriel Arias then took the lead with a long ball, another 2 out rally for the Guardians in the 4th inning.
In the 6th inning, Shane Bieber would strikeout Seth Brown, but on a wild pitch that would allow Tony Kemp to score and tie the game. The game would stay knotted at 3 through the 9th inning where James Karinchak was on the mound. Karinchak would walk Ryan Noda. Although Karinchak managed to strike out Ruiz and force Carlos Perez into a ground out, Tony Kemp would drive in Noda with a single to win the game 4-3.
The Guardians will wrap up the series in Oakland Wednesday afternoon before coming home on Friday. Hunter Gaddis is on the mound, first pitch is set for 3:37 pm.
