The Cleveland Guardians' offense came through in the clutch with a two-run 10th inning while the pitching staff held the New York Yankees scoreless after the first inning to earn a 4-2 victory and even the series 1-1.

Emmanuel Clase earned the win with a seven-out performance. He entered the game in the eighth with two outs and the bases loaded, but induced a lineout to help escape the jam. He only allowed two runners to reach base, but did not allow a run. Jameson Taillon took the loss after allowing the go-ahead runs to score in the 10th.

Steven Kwan and Amed Rosario led off the game with a pair of singles, but the Guardians did not score. The Yankees took advantage in the bottom of the frame, and with a runner on base Giancarlo Stanton homered to give New York an early 2-0 lead. The Yankees nearly extended it in the third after Anthony Rizzo and Gleybor Torres reached base. With two outs Steven Kwan caught a sinking line drive to end the third inning threat.

The Guardians took that momentum into the fourth and got one run back when Josh Naylor beat out an infield single and later scored on an Andres Gimenez single. This was Cleveland's first time scoring this postseason without a home run. Then in the fifth, Amed Rosario hit a solo home run to the the game at two.

The game remained scoreless until the 10th when Jose Ramirez hit a bloop-double to left field, then advanced to third base on a throwing error. Oscar Gonzalez stepped up next and singled to center to drive in Ramirez and give the Guardians a 3-2 lead. Josh Naylor kept it going with an RBI-double to score Gonzalez and extend the lead to 4-2. Emmanuel Clase finished off the Yankees in the 10th to officially give the Guardians the win and split heading to Cleveland for the next two games of this best-of-five ALDS.

Tomorrow at Progressive Field, Game Three will feature probable pitchers Triston McKenzie (11-11, 2.96 ERA) and Luis Severino (7-3, 3.18 ERA) - first pitch at 7:37 PM.
