CLEVELAND, OH--- The Cleveland Guardians were blown away by the visiting Kansas City Royals 7-1 Saturday night. Heavy winds manipulated the ball in the air the whole game, messing with fielders and even helping hitters at some points. Kris Bubic had a solid start for the Royals going 5 innings, giving up 5 hits, no runs and striking out 8.
Salvador Perez had a game tonight, hitting an RBI single in the 3rd and a monstrous solo home run in the 7th. The Royals managed a 2 run 4th inning on 3 consecutive doubles, Hunter Dozier was the first, then Kyle Isbel would hit a 2 run double and then MJ Melendez would also hit an RBI double. In the 6th inning we would see 2 career firsts, Drew Waters' first home run as a right handed hitter, and Bo Naylor made his debut in the bottom half. Naylor is the 17th rookie to make his debut for the Guardians this season. In that same bottom half Owen Miller would hit an RBI double of his own, the ball was deflected off of Royals 3rd basemen Hunter Dozier, this allowed Oscar Gonzalez to score the only Guardians run. The Royals would add on in the 8th off a wild pitch from Guardians pitcher Enyel De Los Santos.
The Guardians and Royals continue their 6 game series to end the regular season tomorrow with a 1:40 first pitch from Progressive Field, Shane Bieber will be on the mound.
