CLEVELAND, OH -- The Cleveland Guardians found themselves in a pitcher's duel against the playoff-hunting Tampa Bay Rays. Cleveland starter Triston McKenzie gave his club six full innings while giving up a lone run on 3 total hits. Tampa Bay starter Tyler Glasnow made his first start since getting Tommy John surgery on his throwing elbow, and he looked solid in the 3 innings he pitched, giving up one earned run. After Karinchak shut down the Rays in the top half of the 10th, before Amed Rosario knocked the the game winning run on an RBI singe to right field, securing a 2-1 victory over the visiting Rays.
Guardians rookie infielder Gabriel Arias went yard in the 3rd inning on a bomb to left field for his first career blast. The Cleveland bullpen combined for 4 innings of shutout baseball, with James Karinchak earning his second win of the season.
The Guardians and Rays will clash for the final time in the 2022 regular season on Thursday evening. The first pitch is set for 6:10 pm ET at Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio.
