SEATTLE, WA -- The Cleveland Guardians wasted no time getting on the board in their first game against the Seattle Mariners, with Jose Ramirez reaching on a fielder's choice to second base, scoring Steven Kwan in the first inning. Seattle answered back in the home half of the first on a 3-run bomb to left field off of the bat of Mitch Haniger. After four runs in the opening inning, the game came to a screaming halt in the scoring department. The game quickly turned into a pitcher's duel, as the Mariners hung on to a 3-1 victory against the visiting Guardians.

Marco Gonzales, a finesse style lefty, cruised through the Guardians lineup with little-to-no issues. The Seattle hurler finished his outing with a final line of one earned run on 6 full innings pitched, striking out four batters while allowing a lone walk.

The Guardians and Mariners will clash on Friday night for game two of the four game series. The first pitch is set for 10:10 pm ET at T-Mobile Park in Seattle, Washington.
