LOS ANGELES. CA -- The Los Angeles Dodgers had an opportunity to walk off the Guardians in the home half of the ninth, with a runner in scoring position with only one out. Former outfielder turned relief pitcher Anthony Gose relied on his fastball and slider to work out of the 9th inning jam, leaving two Dodgers stranded, and forcing extra innings to begin the weekend series. Coming cold off of the bench in the 10th inning, Cleveland rookie Rickie Palacios stepped up and drove in the go-ahead run on a sacrifice fly to center field to score Owen Miller. Guardians skipper Terry Francona decided to bring in Enyel De Los Santos to relieve Gose, and he went on to shut down the Dodgers to secure a 2-1 extra innings victory over the Dodgers.
De Los Santos was greeted by a smiling Luke Maile after securing his major league save. Cleveland starter Zach Plesac ended his night with a final line of one earned run on six innings pitched, while striking out just none lone Dodger along the way.
The Cleveland Guardians continue their red hot run, winning their fifth straight game. Cleveland and Los Angeles will square off on Saturday afternoon when Cal Quantrill will take the hill against Julio Urias. The first pitch is set for 7:15 PM ET at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, California.
