CLEVELAND, OH--- The Cleveland Guardians took the first of a 4-game series with the visiting Oakland A's by a final score of 8-4. The Guardians have now won 8 out of their last 10 games, with Oakland on a 9-game skid.

The A's took the lead early with a 2 run homer off the bat of Christian Bethancourt that would bring in Sean Murphy to score. That would be it for the A's for a few innings. The Guardians scored their first run in the bottom of the 4th when Jose Ramirez would answer Bethancourt's Home Run with a solo bomb of his own that went deep into the right-field seats, right after that Naylor would hit a solo homer of his own. The A's then got back on the board with a Seth Brown RBI double to bring home Bethancourt and Elvis Andrus. In the bottom half of that 6th is when the Guardians got some momentum, Oscar Gonzalez, who had a 4 hit night kicked things off with an RBI single that rolled through the infield and would score Steven Kwan from second, even though he should've been at 3rd after a no-call of interference with A's shortstop Andrus laying on top of Kwan prohibiting him from advancing on a wild throw. Kwan would later hit an RBI single in the 7th that would score Luke Maile. Kwan would advance to second after the throw to 3rd trying to get Straw out. The bottom of the 8th was most likely the best half-inning of baseball the Guardians have played all year, with Andres Gimenez hitting a bloop single to left field to score Oscar Mercado, the pinch runner for Gonzalez, followed by an Ernie Clement bunt single that advanced Owen Miller to home plate. Gimenez would be brought home by Luke Maile with a double that also brought in Ernie Clement.

The Guardians stay at home tomorrow for another 7:10 first pitch with Triston McKenzie on the mound.
