BALTIMORE, MD--- The Guardians lost a Home Run fest to the Orioles Saturday evening 5-4. The new dimensions at Oriole Park at Camden Yards didn't seem to bother either team this evening. The left-field wall was pushed back 20 feet and raised 5 feet this off-season. Triston McKenzie was on the mound for the Guardians and he would secure his 4th consecutive start where he went 7 or more innings.
The Home Runs started early with Jose Ramirez hitting a solo bomb in the top of the first, the scoring for the game was all Home Runs through the first 4 innings, with bombs coming from Trey Mancini, Andres Gimenez, a 3-run bomb that came from Austin Hays in the bottom of the 3rd which brought home Cedric Mullins and Trey Mancini, and topped off with another solo bomb of the bat of Rougned Odor. The scoring off of Home Runs finally ended, as Steven Kwan and Myles Straw would both have ground out RBI in the top of the 5th. Kwan brought in Oscar Gonzalez to score and Straw brought in Andres Gimenez to score. Straw the next inning would have an amazing sliding catch in center field. As I mentioned in the first paragraph, McKenzie was on the mound today for The Guardians and pitched 7 or more innings for the 4th consecutive start, he went a total of 7 innings while giving up 3 hits and 5 runs, which were all off of Home Runs.
The Guardians stay in Baltimore for a 1:35 first pitch tomorrow continuing their series with the Orioles. Zach Plesac will be on the mound for the Guardians.
