Civale Struggles, Guardians Fall to Twins 12-8

MINNEAPOLIS, MN -- Byron Buxton got the Minnesota Twins offense going early with a leadoff homer, that was quickly followed by a solo shot off the bat of Jorge Polanco. The 2017 number one overall [pick of the MLB draft, Royce Lewis, sent out his first career big league homer on a grand slam to blow the game wide open in the 5th inning. The Minnesota Twins were able to fend off the Guardian's late surge to win by the final score of 12-8.

Aaron Civale continues a downhill trend, after struggling once again his ERA dipped all the way down to 9.45. The Guardians right hander gave up 6 earned runs on 7 hits in just 4 2/3 innings pitched. Bryan Shaw gave up 5 earned runs without recording an out, before being relived by Eli Morgan.

Minnesota and Cleveland will square off in game two of the weekend series on Saturday evening. The first pitch is set for 7:10 pm ET at Target Field in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
