CLEVELAND, OH--- In the second game of this Saturday afternoon doubleheader with the visiting Toronto Blue Jays, the Guardians completely took over, unlike game 1. Although it was sunny it was brisk with heavy wind. Triston McKenzie had a solid outing, going 6 innings, giving up 4 hits, 2 runs, and striking out 6. Coming into today's start, opposing batters had a collective .193 batting average against McKenzie in his MLB career.

Both teams started the game hot, in the bottom of the 1st, it was Bo Bichette bringing in George Springer to score on a double to LF. The Guardians showed early they were going to fight, as Owen Miller stayed hot, hitting his 10th double of the year which brought in Ahmed Rosario and Jose Ramirez to score making it 2-1. In that same inning, Andres Gimenez brought in Owen Miller to score on a single to RF. In the top of the second Santiago Espinal hit an RBI double to CF, but was thrown out at 3rd base trying to stretch it to a triple. He still brought in Matt Chapman to score. After what felt like forever, in the bottom of the 3rd, Franmil Reyes hit a solo home run to LF which was his first since April 22nd. He also was responsible for another run in the bottom of the 5th, an RBI single to CF that scored Ahmed Rosario. From this point on the Guardians were in full control. The rest of the runs came from a Steven Kwan RBI single to CF, which scored Oscar Mercado who an inning later in the 7th hit a sacrifice fly to LF that scored Owen Miller. Emmanuel Clase closed the game on just 6 pitches in the 9th.

The Guardians are back at it tomorrow afternoon at Progressive Field in downtown Cleveland for a Mother's Day game continuing the series with the Blue Jays. The first pitch is scheduled for 1:40 with Konnor Pilkington on the mound.
