CLEVELAND, OH -- Aaron Civale came into Thursday night's game against the Bluejays having won all 18 career games in which the Guardians scored at least three runs. The Guardians were able to get over that mark in the third inning on a fielder's choice off the bat of Amed Rosario. Cleveland's bullpen, led by Emmanuel Clase, was able to shut down the Jays in the late innings to secure a 6-5 win.

Aaron Civale had his curveball working, striking out 8 batters on his way to a final line of 4 earned runs on 6 hits through 5 2/3 innings. Cleveland's rookie sensation Steven Kwan pulled a game-tying two-run blast over the right-field wall for his first big league homer. Guardians slugger Franmil Reyes continues to look more comfortable in the box each day, tallying three singles on four plate appearances on Thursday night.

The Cleveland Guardians and Toronto Bluejays will clash for game two of the four-game series on Friday night, with both teams tossing out their respected aces. Shane Bieber will take the hill for the Guardians, facing off against Kevin Gausman. The first pitch is set for 7:10 pm ET at Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio.
