The Guardians Got Out Their Brooms and Swept the A's, 7-3

OAKLAND, CA-- In the final game of this road trip, Triston McKenzie got the start for the Guardians and James Kaprielian started for the Athletics.

The Guardians had the early lead with an RBI double off the bat of Luke Maile to center field that brought Andres Gimenez home in the top of the second.

Franmil Reyes whacked a two-RBI line-drive single to right field with the bases loaded in the top of the third with no outs to extend the Guardians' lead to 3-0. That scored Jose Ramirez and Owen Miller. Then, with still no outs, Andres Gimenez doubled on a line drive to right field to drive in Josh Naylor and push the lead to 4-0. Before the end of the inning, Franmil Reyes scored on a wild pitch to end the third inning with the Guardians up 5-0.

The game has been all Cleveland through the fourth inning. Guardians added a run from Josh Naylor's single to score Steven Kwan and keep this game in favor of the Guardians, 6-0.

Cleveland continued to extend the shutout in the sixth inning to 7-0 with a sacrifice fly from Owen Miller to center field to score Steven Kwan.

In the bottom of the seventh, Triston McKenzie went six and a third innings with seven strikeouts, four hits, one walk, and ninety-seven pitches. Brian Shaw came in to replace McKenzie.

Anthony Gose was pitching for the Guardians in the ninth when the A's started earning some runs. Christian Bethancourt doubled on a line drive to left field and scored Sean Murphy. Chad Pinder popped a sacrifice fly to the right field to bring Stephen Piscotty home. Kevin Smith cracked a line drive to left field and Christian Bethancourt came home. The Guardians led 7-0 at the start of the ninth inning but ended up completing the sweep in Oakland with a final score of 7-3.

The Guardians are off tomorrow but will be home on Tuesday to face the San Diego Padres with a 6:10 first pitch.
