ANAHEIM, CA-- Game two in LA was a battle between Triston McKenzie for the Guardians and Patrick Sandoval for the Angels. The first run of the game came from Brandon Marsh in the bottom of the second, with a single to Myles Straw that scored Anthony Rendon. Mike Trout hit a two-run blast to left-center field in the bottom of the third to extend their lead to 3-0.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, Mike Trout extended the lead for the Angels again with an RBI double to left field to bring Shohei Ohtani home. The Angels led the Guardians 4-0 after five innings with only one hit for the Guardians.
Triston McKenzie went five and two-thirds innings with 4 runs, 5 strikeouts, and no walks. Enyel De Los Santos relieved McKenzie in the sixth.
In the top of the ninth, Jose Ramirez whacked a line-drive double to right field. That scored Myles Straw and ended the eight-inning shutout with LA leading still 4-1.
Triston McKenzie with the loss tonight and Patrick Sandoval earned the win for the Angels with seven shutout innings.
The Guardians, now with five straight losses, fall to 7-10 on the year.
The Guardians are back on the field tomorrow in Anaheim. First pitch at 9:38 PM with Zach Plesac facing off against Shohei Ohtani.
