ANAHEIM, CA-- The Guardians started their west coast trip in Anaheim against the Angels tonight. Shane Bieber started for the Guardians while Michael Lorenzen pitched for the Angels. Both pitchers kept the game scoreless through the top of the fifth. The tie was broken when Taylor Ward solo homered in the bottom of the fifth to give the Angels the lead.
The Angels extended their lead in the bottom of the seventh to 3-0. Taylor Ward hit another homer off of Shane Bieber. This time it was a two-run home run.
Steven Kwan was ruled out with right hamstring tightness which allowed Richie Palacios to make his major league debut. Palacios had two of the three Guardians hits on the night with the third coming from the bat of Amed Rosario.
Shane Bieber took the loss while Michael Lorenzen earned the win and the save coming from Rasiel Iglesias,
The Guardians will be back on the field tomorrow against the Angles with the first pitch at 9:38 from Anaheim.
