CLEVELAND, OH -- The Indians were hoping to get 4 solid innings from Sam Hentges before relying on their bullpen, and that was exactly was Hentges gave them. The 25-year old right hander gave up just one earned run in four innings of work, leaving the game with a comfortable 5-1 lead. The tribe offense did ont let off of the gas pedal, bringing home 9 total runs in a 9-1 win over the visiting Angels.
Cleveland cleanup man Franmil Reyes led the charge for the tribe offense on Friday night, driving in 5 RBI in one game for the second time this season. Reyes got the scoring party started with a 3-run blast to left field, and later ripped a 2-run single to the opposite field. Jose Ramirez took the league lead for home runs by a switch hitter, hitting number 28 to the left field bleachers.
The Indians and Angels will square off for game 2 of the weekend series on Saturday evening. First pitch is set for 4:10 pm ET at Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio. Check out highlights from tonight's game below!
