Cleveland, OH--
The Indians and the Athletics started an hour later tonight due to storms in the area forcing a rain delay. Cal Quantrill got the start for the Tribe and Frankie Montas for the A's. Cleveland struck first from a ground force out by Franmil Reyes and it was thanks to a throwing error on Jed Lowrie that brought Bradley Zimmer home. Following the error the Tribe brought in another run with an RBI single from Harold Ramirez to score Reyes. After the first inning the score stayed 2-0 for the majority of the night due to the outstanding pitching form both pitchers.
In the seventh inning the action picked back up. The Indians brought in Brian Shaw to relive Quantrill. Oakland ties the game in the seventh with a ground out from Mitch Moreland Jed Lowrie home and Matt Chapman grounded out as well to score Yan Gomes. In the bottom of the seventh Oscar Mercado broke the tie up. He wacked a liner to the left field wall and Myles Straw sprinted into home plate safely. The A's tied the game again with a solo home run to left field. Earlier in the game Harold Ramirez left the game with a back knee strain and Nick Sandlin left the game with an injury after a pitch in the eighth inning. Jed Lowrie blasted a three run home run to right field in the eighth to make the score 6-3. The score didnt change after that, the Indians couldn't make up the deficit their last two times at bat.
The A's and Indians will have their series finale tomorrow afternoon at Progressive Field. First pitch 1:10.
