CLEVELAND, OH -- After a two and a half hour wait to get the traditional doubleheader underway, the Tigers and Indians both got off to a roaring start. Jose Ramirez got the scoring party going early with a solo homer that he lined to the right field corner in the first inning. The tribe and Tigers traded blows back and forth throughout most of the 7-inning game, with Detroit out slugging the Indians in the long run. Detroit pulled away in the late innings to secure game one of the Wednesday doubleheader by the final score of 9-4.

Game one featured many long balls, with all four bombs coming from the Indians. Cleveland's young slugger Bobby Bradley hit his first multi home run game of his career, crushing two homers.

Harold Castro led the charge for Detroit's offense with 3 hits and 3 RBI. Detroit centerfielder Akil Baddoo went 3 for 5 while scoring once.
