BALTIMORE, MD -- The Baltimore Orioles came out of the gates looking a bit sluggish, having had only 1 hits through six innings. The birds offense came alive in the 7th innings, when Ryan Mountcastle launched a go-ahead two-run blast just over the glove of Eddie Rosario. The Mountcastle home run was challenged by tribe manager Terry Francona after it appeared that a fan interfered with the ball as Rosario attempted a catch, but the review was upheld and was ruled a home run. Baltimore went on to shut the door on the Indians, securing a 3-1 victory.
Indians youngster J.C. Mejia made his first start of the season and was locked in. Mejia went on to throw 3 full innings while giving up just one base hit. Bryan Shaw made a rare mistake in the late innings and Baltimore's Mountcastle made him pay. Shaw later gave up his second earned run of the night on a sacrifice fly off of the bat of Anthony Santander.
The tribe will look to get back on track when they square off against Baltimore ace John Means on Saturday afternoon. First pitch is set for 4:05 PM et at Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland.
