CHICAG9O, IL -- Chicago left hander Carlos Rodon made history on Wednesday night, becoming the 20th pitcher in franchise history to throw a no-hitter, and was perfect through 8 1/3 innings. The White Sox jumped out to a large 6-run lead in the first inning before cruising to a 8-0 win over the divisional rival Cleveland Indians.

With two outs to go for a perfect game, Cleveland catcher Roberto Perez stepped out of the box in the middle of his battle against Rodon, before stepping back in and taking a slider off of his back foot to end the perfect game bid. Rodon was not phased by losing his perfect bid, shutting down the next two batters to seal the no-hitter and make history. The Chicago hurler was sidelined for 3 full seasons out of the last 4 years with injuries, and made his return in a big way on Wednesday evening.

Cleveland starter Zach Plesac did not look comfortable out of the gate, as he struggled to get away from the center of the plate. Plesac was only able to record two outs before being pulled following a 6 run outburst by the White Sox.

The tribe will look to get back on track on Thursday afternoon in the series finale in Chicago. The White Sox will send out their ace Lance Lynn to match up against Aaron Civale. First pitch is set for 2:10 pm ET at Guaranteed Rate Field in Chicago, Illinois. Check out the final out from Rodon's no-hitter below!
