CLEVELAND, OH -- After dropping 20 consecutive games to the Cleveland Indians, the Detroit Tigers finally have a reason to smile. Detroit third baseman Isaac Paredes turned the game on it's side with a grand slam in the 4th inning to give the Tigers a lead that they would never relinquish. The Tigers padded their lead in the 7th inning, scoring three before defeating the tribe by the final score of 10-5.
Adam Plutko got off to a solid start, before running into problems in the 4th inning. Jonathan Schoop got the Detroit bats going with a 2-run longshot to left center field. Austin Romine drove in a run on a line drive single to right field, before Paredes hit a base clearing grand slam that took Cleveland starter Adam Plutko out of the game.
Franmil Reyes was the lone bright spot for the hometown tribe, as he continues to be the hottest bat in the lineup. Franmil Reyes launched a no-doubt 2-run blast to right center field for a team-leading 6th home run of the year. Detroit could not crack the code of Cam Hill, who retired all six batters that he faced.
Detroit right handed relief pitcher Rony Garcia moved to a 2-0 record after tossing 1.1 innings, giving up 0 earned runs on one hit. Adam Plutko was hit with the loss, dropping him to a 1-2 record.
