CINCINNATI--Over the last six games, the Cleveland Indians have only scored six runs total and their offensive struggles continued as Joey Votto's two-run go-ahead homer in the sixth inning gave the Cincinnati Reds a 3-2 lead. Reds starter Sonny Gray (3-0) had eight strikeouts and the team had 14 K's overall as the Reds (5-5) would defeat the Indians (5-6) 3-2.

Another night where starting pitching was wasted. Zach Plesac (0-1) has his stuff through seven innings like this below....and lost the game!

The Indians started the game with Francisco Lindor driving a homer to right field in the first inning. This was the Indians only earned run of the night.

In the second inning, Sonny Gray threw a wild pitch to Sandy Leon and Oscar Mercado scored to put the Tribe up 2-0.

Gray settled down and pitched six complete innings, striking out eight as previously mentioned.

Nicholas Castellanos homered in the fourth inning which broke Zach Plesac's shutout streak at 11 innings between this game and his previous start.

Then in the sixth, Joey Votto who had been struggling recently going hitless in his last 11 plate appearances put the Reds ahead 3-2.

As I mentioned on the Xtra Innings Postgame Show on WTAM 1100AM/106.9FM, the Indians are struggling in every way possible offensive. Tonight, they were 0 for 4 with runners in scoring position (Hernandez, Lindor, Ramirez and Allen each 0 for 1).

In the ninth inning, Reds closer Raisel Iglesias pitched an 1-2-3 inning. 1B Carlos Santana who was 1 for 3 grounded out to Iglesias, DH Franmil Reyes (0 for 4) struck out swinging and RF Daniel Johnson (0 for 4) struck out swinging to end the inning.

Hitters 5-9 in this lineup (Reyes, Johnson, Mercado, Leon and Allen) are all batting .171 or less through 11 games. Jose Ramirez currently has the best hitting percentage through 11 games at .300.

The 2019 All-Star Game MVP RHP Shane Bieber (2-0) will start Tuesday night as he has struckout 27 batters and pitched a combined 14 scoreless innings over his last two starts. The Reds will start RHP Tyler Mahle. LHP Wade Miley was the scheduled started but has a left groin injury suffered last Friday against the Detroit Tigers.

Coverage begins at 5:05pm with the Ken Ganley Kia Tribe Insider Pregame with Carmen Angelo. First pitch at 6:10pm on Newsradio WTAM 1100AM/106.9FM and on your smart device at iHeartRadio.
