Twins 5 Indians 3, Twins Bats To Much For Indians Bullpen.

The Indians wanted to keep momentum and make a late season run at securing a wild card playoff spot. The Indians continued there series against the division leading Twins. Taking the mount for the Indians was Adam Civale who on the year has a 3-3 record with an ERA of 1.94. For the Twins is was pitcher Jake Odorizzi who came into the game with a 14-6 with an era of 3.61.

First Inning

The Indians lineup went three up and three down on only twelve pitches from Odorizzi leaving the indians scoreless and hit less heading into the bottom of the first. Adam Civale would strike out the first batter he would face. But the second batter would get the best of a pitch and hit a solo home run making the score 1-0. Civale would bounce back and strike out the next batter. The score would be 1-0 heading in the second inning.

Second Inning

The top of the second would start with a Yasiel Puig strikeout, showing Odorizzi would start where he left off after facing his first three batters. Next up was Jason Kipnis who came into the game with zero hits in his last nineteen attempts would fly out to center after a seven pitch at bat. The third hitter of the inning was Franmil Reyes would would then get the first hit of the game for the tribe with a single to left field. Next batter was Mike Freeman who is playing third. Freeman would last only two pitches as he would fly out to right field leaving the runner on first and keeping the score 1-0 in favor of the Twins. In the bottom of the inning the Twins would send there 5,6 and 7 hitters. Civale would strike out the Twins 5 hitter the DH Miguel Sano, the 6 hitter would then fly out to left and the 7 hitter C.J. Cron would fall victim to an Adam Civale strike out. Keeping the score 1-0 in favor of the Twins.

Third Inning

The Indians would start the inning with Roberto Perez facing Odorizzi. Perez would ground out which would bring up Greg Allen would would have an 8 pitch at bat that would result in Odorizzi 5th strikeout of the game. The number one hitter Francisco Lindor would have his second at bat. Lindor would single to left field giving Oscar Mercado the chance to give the Indians the lead. Mercado would have a five pitch at bat that would end in a strikeout. Keeping the score 1-0 in favor of the Twins. In the bottom of the third inning, the Twins would start the half inning with a single by the Twins third baseman Willians Astudillo. The Twins next batter would hit into a double play leaving the bases empty. But Civale would walk the bases loaded. With two outs Civale would save the inning and the teams score when he would cause a pop fly. Keeping the score 1-0 in favor of the Twins.

Forth Inning

Jake Odorizzi would strike out the innings first batter for the Tribe. Puig would the ground out. The third batter Jason Kipnis would break his 0 for 20 streak with a single giving Franmil Reyes an opportunity to advance the runner and get his second hit of the night. Unfortunately Odorizzi would get the best of this at bat striking out Reyes for his eighth strikeout of the game keeping the score 1-0 in favor of the Twins. The Twins first batter of the inning would reach first base due to an error by Civale. The next batter would hit a double. The third batter of the inning would have a well hit ball but great play by Lindor and a throw to home where the batter would be called out would keep the game a one run game. With a runner on second and a runner of first Civale would once again work his way out of the inning. Keeping the score 1-0 in favor of the Twins.

Fifth Inning

Twins pitcher Jake Odorizzi continued to have a fantastic game. He would strike out the first two Indians batters Freeman and Perez. Odorizzi would also cause Allen to flyout to end the inning for the Indians. Civale would also have a great inning retiring all three of the Twins batters keeping the score 1-0 in favor of the Twins.

Sixth Inning

Francisco Lindor would lead off the Inning with a six pitch at bat that would end with a pop out to second base. Jake Odorizzi would then walk then walk the next two batters making it runners on second and first with one out as Yasiel Puig came to bat. Puig would take advantage of this opportunity. Puig would hit a double allowing one runner to score and tie the game at 1-1. The twins would then make a change and Odorizzi would be done for the day after a great 6 innings. Into the game came pitcher Tyler Duffy who would try to keep the game tied. With a runner on third and second. Jason Kipnis would strike out bringing up. but the Indians would then take the lead when a wild pitch would allow Santana to score from third giving the Indians the lead 2-1.

Tyler Clippard would then come in for Adam Civale. Clippard would retire the first batter. Then the second batter of the inning Sano would double to left field. Giving the Twins the tieing in scoring position with one out in the inning. The indians would cause the Twins batter Luis Arraez to pop out making it two outs and the Twins tying run on second. Clippard would then leave the game and be replaced by Adam Cimber. Cimber would strike out the batter and keep the score CLE 2 MIN 1.

Seventh Inning

The inning would start with a line out by Mike Freeman. But Roberto Perez would single to deep right center giving Greg Allen an opportunity to advance the runner. Greg Allen would then single but Perez would be out due to a fielder's choice. Allen would be the runner on first as Francisco Lindor came to bat. On a pitch strike Allen would steal second. Lindor would then fly out to center field keeping the score 2-1. The Twins first batter would then lead off the Twins at bat with a single. A wild throw by Lindor would make the runner safe. The next pitch Adam Cimber would give up a triple that would hit off the wall. That hit would score the runner and tie the game at 2. The top of the Twins batting order would then come in and try to take advantage of the momentum. The Twins would do just that. The twins would get a three run lead after a three run home run. The Twins would lead 5-2 going into the eighth.

Eighth Inning

THe first two batters for the Indians would fly out and then strike out. It wasn't until the third batter Yasiel Puig would get a double putting himself in scoring position with Jason Kipnis the next batter. Jason Kipnis would the hit Yasiel Puig home with an RBI double. Puig would look to hurt himself while running home. More details to come about Yasiel Puig. The next batter Reyes would fly out to center. Making the score MIN 5 CLE 3. The Indians would bring in another pitcher to begin the inning. This time Hunter Wood. Wood would walk the first batter, Wood would then strike out the next batter. Hunter wood would work his way out of the Inning. the Twins lead 5-3

Ninth Inning

The Indians hitters would go hitless in the ninth. Leaving the score 3-5.
