Rays Home Runs To Much For Tribe, Indians Now 4.5 Back In The Loss Colun

Starting Pitchers for tonight's game.

Indians: Zach Plesac - 7-4 with and ERA of 3.40

Rays: Diego Castillo - 8 saves, ERA of 3.76

The Indians line up had some changes due to injuries. Noticeably Jake Bauers being called up to replace Tyler Naquin who yesterday was was diagnosed with a torn ACL and was placed on the 10- Day IL

The Indians scored first when Carlos Santana would hit a two run homerun in the top of the first inning. Giving the Indians a 2-0 lead in Tampa.

The game would remain 2-0 until Rays first baseman Ji-Man Choi would hit a 402 ft home run deep to right field making the game 2-1 in the 2nd inning.

In the top of the third Lindor on base Carlos Santana was at the plate. Carlos Santana would get a great hit that would put him on third and allowed Lindor the opportunity to score. Unfortunately a great play by Rays outfielder Tommy Pham, also Lindor not sliding into home would keep it a scoreless innings, and a one run league for the Indians.

In the bottom of the third the Rays would take advantage of every chance Indians pitcher Zach Plesac gave them. Rays Left Fielder Tommy Pham would a 423 foot two run home run that scored Rays lead off hitter and second baseman Eric Sogard. Making the score 3-2 in favor of the Rays in the bottom of the 3rd.

The game would remain 3-2 in favor of the Tampa Bay Rays. But in the bottom of the sixth Zach Plesac work would be done for the day. Coming in relief for Plesac was Tyler Clippard. Clippard would strike out one, but then give up a 446 foot, two run home run to Rays right fielder Avisail Garcia making the score 5-2, then would give up a RBI single making the score 6-2 Tampa.

Hunter Wood would come in relief of Clippard. But Hunter Wood also would give up a home run making the score 7-2 in the bottom of the seventh. In for Hunter Wood was pitcher Phil Maton. Maton would also give up two earned runs, making th score 9-2 in favor of the Rays.

In the top of the eighth Indians shortstop Francisco Lindor would make the most of his at bat as he was able to get a two run home run making the score 4-9. The Indians would hold the rays scoreless in the bottom of the 8th.

  • Zach Plesac - Plesac continues to grow and get better. Plesac worked his way out of a jam in the bottom of the 5th inning. With a runner on third, Plesac was able to retire the next two batters keeping it a one run game.
