DETROIT -- Mike Clevnger continues his hot pitching as he threw eight dominant innings and stuck out 10 and Francisco Lindor hit his 25th homer of the season as the Indians sweep the Tigers by a final score of 2-0. The win marks the Tribe's fifth shutout of the season against the Tigers and gives them their 14th straight win over the Tigers on the season.
Clevinger gets his 10th win of the season, as only allowed four hits and walked zero over his eight innings of work today. Brad Hand came on in the ninth to pitch a 1-2-3 inning to record his 33rd save in 38 chances on the season.
Indians All-Star shortstop Francisco Lindor provided all the offense for the team. Lindor hit his 25th homer of the season in the third inning off of Tigers starter Daniel Norris to give the Indians an early 1-0 lead. Lindor added a RBI sacrifice fly in the seventh to push another run across for the Indians. And that was all the offense the team needed for the day
Today's win gave the Indians their 50th win in their last 75 games after starting the year 29-30.
Next up for the Indians, they start a huge three game series that will have wild card implications on the line as they travel to Tampa to face the Rays. On the mound for the series opener will be All-Star MVP Shane Bieber who is 12-6 with a 3.23 ERA on the year.
First pitch in Tampa is at 7:10 on Friday and you can hear it all on WTAM 1100 beginning with Tribe Insider at 6.
