DETROIT--For the 14th time this season (out of 15), the Cleveland Indians defeated the Detroit Tigers in 2019. This time, Jason Kipnis' two homers and a strong start from young pitcher Aaron Civale (2-3) led to a 4-2 Indians victory.

This game featured a great pitching battle between Civale and Tigers' starter Jordan Zimmermann. Zimmermann only gave up two runs in his six innings of action. But Francisco Lindor hit a solo homer to left that was catchable against Buck Farmer (5-5), but Victor Reyes did not leave his feet to attempt to make a play which shows the Tigers 39-91 record.

Kipnis' multiple homer game in the second and ninth inning set the tone for the game.

On Wednesday afternoon, Terry Francona told MLB Network Radio he intends to add Carlos Carrasco to the 40-man roster on September 1st.

Cookie has been out since June 4th.
