NEW YORK -- Mets star pitcher Noah Syndergaard was dominant in his six innings of work before the rains came, as he pitched six scoreless innings only giving up two hits and striking out five, as he helps the Mets sweep the Indians 2-0 in a rain shortened game.

The rain was the real story of the game as the teams had to sit through the first rain delay that came through during the bottom of the sixth inning and it lasted for over two hours, before coming back on the field to play two more innings, before another delay was called and that would be the final one, as the Indians needed to get back to Cleveland to start a series with the Royals on Friday.

The Mets scored in the 4th inning after a Joe Panik single and a Michael Conforto double, Wilson Ramos came up with two men in scoring position and delivered a two run double to put the Mets up 2-0.

As mentioned before Noah Syndergaard was absolutely dominant from the outset tonight. The Indians did not get their first base runner of the game until the bottom of the 6th with one out, when Tyler Naqin singled to center field. After the single by Naquin, Francisco Lindor got the Indians other hit of the night, which was his 800th career hit and by doing so became the fifth player in Indians history to accomplish that feat before the age of 26.

There was some good news for the organization tonight as the AAA affiliate Columbus Clippers clinched their division tonight with a 6-2 victory tonight over Louisville. Congrats to the Clippers as they make their way to the International League playoffs once again!

Also in Akron, Carlos Carrasco made his second rehab appearance of the week and it was dominant! Carlos pitched 1.2 innings, allowing no hits, no walks, and striking out four. He made 25 pitches with 17 for strikes.

The Indians finish the New York City road trip 2-5 and look to right themselves on Friday as the Kansas City Royals come in for a weekend series.

On the mound for the Indians will be Zach Plesac (6-4, 3.53 ERA) and the Royals will be countering with Jakob Junis (8-11, 4.78 ERA), first pitch is at 7:10 and you can hear all on your home for Indians baseball WTAM 1100 and 106.9 FM!
