CINCINNATI, OH -- The Cleveland Indians went yard four times and held the home town Reds to one lone run in an 11-1 blowout. The tribe head into the All-Star break in the midst of a season-high six-game winning streak as they finish the halfway point of the season with a 50-38 record.
Greg Allen was called back up to the Majors just two games ago and has already made a huge impact. Recalled from Triple-A Columbus on Saturday, Allen launched a 2-run homer and hit two triples in a career-high 4-hit ballgame. The young center fielder flashed his leather today, taking away a double from Jose Iglesias with a backhand grab before tumbling into the outfield fence in front of the bullpen.
Jake Bauers continues to tear the cover off the ball of late, as he blasted a two-run home run in the 5th inning. Tyler Naquin and Jason Kipnis each added solo shots as the Indians offense was surging. The visiting Cleveland Indians tied their single-game season highs with 18 base knocks and nine extra-base hits while completing a two-game sweep of the Cincinnati Reds.
Trevor Bauer improved to 4-0 on the year with a 2.90 ERA over his previous six starts. The Indians right hander allowed just one hit through the first four innings before giving up his lone earned run in the 5th inning.
The Cleveland Indians will get a much needed rest as the MLB All-Star Break begins on Monday. WTAM 1100 will have live coverage for the MLB All-Star events, including both the Home-Run Derby and the All-Star Game on Monday and Tuesday. Check out highlights from today's game below!
