CLEVELAND, OH -- Indians' prospect Aaron Civale was called up to the big leagues to make his major league debut after Mike Clevinger recently suffered an ankle injury. Civale sliced through the first three batters he faced, striking out the side in order. The tribe rookie pitched six shutout innings, allowing just two hits, striking out six Tigers and walking three in what ended up being his first major league win. The Indians bullpen provided three shutout innings of relief against an ice-cold Detroit lineup. Brad hand remains perfect on the season after earning his 22nd save in his 22nd save opportunity in a 2-0 victory over the Detroit Tigers.
Brad Hand continues to make his case for the best closer in baseball, as he has been near perfect this season. The tribe shutdown closer has given up a total of two earned runs since April 15th of this year.
Cleveland got on the board in the second inning when Jose Ramirez beat the defensive shift, slapping the ball to right shallow right field on an RBI triple. The following inning Oscar Mercado ripped an RBI single to center field, scoring Mike Freeman to put the tribe ahead 2-0.
The Cleveland Indians continue to dominate the Detroit tigers this season, defeating their divisional rival in 7 of 8 games. After today's victory the tribe move to a season best six games over .500 . Zach Plesac will get the nod for the tribe in tomorrow's Sunday afternoon showdown. Detroit will give the ball to the southpaw Daniel Norris. First pitch is set for 1:10 PM ET tomorrow afternoon at Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio.
